TRITEC has been a leader in the PTFE Rotary Lip Seal industry for nearly 30 years.

As the vast array of industries had become more demanding with higher temperatures, caustic environments, higher pressures, etc… the standard elastomeric seal could no longer offer the life expectancy needed for companies to remain competitive. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) offers the opportunity to run at higher RPMs, higher and lower temperatures, and much higher pressures than an elastomeric seal.

This is due to the fact that PTFE is an inert material, developed to withstand severe temperature, has a lower coefficient of friction, and when combined with select fillers, PTFE offers exceptional wear characteristics and other mechanical properties that elastomer seals cannot.

PTFE performs better than rubber compounds over a much wider range of shaft speeds and diameters.

The RPM Comparison chart to the right demonstrates the breadth of the RPMs obtainable with PTFE versus the different elastomeric seals available. As you can see from the RPM Comparison chart as well as the Temperature Comparison chart, PTFE has a great advantage for you when it comes to adding life to your application versus using an elastomeric seal.

PTFE performs better than rubber compounds over a much wider range of temperatures.

For example, if you have a 90mm (3.543″) diameter shaft or greater, you cannot effectively use an elastomeric seal above 6500 RPMs, whereas you can use our PTFE seals up to 30,000 RPMs! Furthermore, you can operate up to 316C (600F), or as low as -275C (-463F) with our PTFE seals.

What seal type to use?

TRITEC will custom engineer the appropriate seal style for your application.

Once we have gathered all of your application specific information (see application data sheet), we can determine the right PTFE blend as well as the style of seal best suited for you. There are literally hundreds of variations of seal styles, PTFE lip configurations and features. Our expert engineering team will use the information that you provide and utilize over 90 years of combined PTFE sealing knowledge to custom design your sealing solution.
